There are various benefits so please drop in for your visit to Yokohama, Isezaki-cho.
A monk originating from Toyama Prefecture, Master Okuda established the Yokohama Zenkoji branch temple in this area in 1898.
About 10 years later, it began with having Jizo (Ksitigarbha) settled in the precincts as a guardian deity of mundanity profit.
This is so that childbirth is blessed and the children grow healthy and strong.
However, Yokohama citizens and the shrine suffered from the two disasters, the Great Kanto Earthquake of September 12th, 1920 and the Yokohama Great Air Raid in May 1959.
Afterwards, with the commemoration of the earthquake and the war victims, it has been believed as miracle-working.
From the place where the festival is held on day 1 and 6, it is familiar as “Ichi (1) Roku (6) Jizo” to Yokohama citizens.
The figure of Jizo (Ksitigarbha) is embracing a baby on the left hand, a rod on the right hand.
